Our Main Mission
Our main mission always has been and will continue to be, the education, advocacy, and preservation of these breeds within our means.
The pull and rescue of shelter dogs and death row dogs. Owner surrenders, and Placement programs to help assisting in rehoming dogs. We attempt to help with food, vaccines, and spay/neuter when possible.
What does this mean for the public?
This means that anyone that wants to get involved has a chance to do so. There are several avenue's to do so.

Fact: When tested to put into theory, 97% of "Professional" dog trainers, handlers, etc were unable to point out the pure bred American Pit Bull Terrier. If the professionals that are handling our dogs in America every year are unable to pick out an American Pit Bull Terrier, how can we trust our government to do so when regulating BSL's? (See Below for Definition) How many innocent dogs have been killed already? How many more will?
BSL's and their accuracy
So if 97% of professionals can not correctly identify "Pit Bulls" used loosely here, how can they manage a BSL region? If they can't, then the Government surely can't, so who should? Should a BSL even be allowed to exist?
Let's introduce you to BSL's (Breed Specific Legislation). BSL's are laws written to reduce the amount of dog bites usually "associated" with one type of breed or another, or to reduce the population of "dangerous" or "aggressive" breeds in a particular area (such as city or county, some run state wide, but not so much in recent years). These laws don't just surround themselves around American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier and other "Pit Bull" Type dogs. In truth, it encases over 50 breeds, including Boston Terriers, French Bull Dogs, English Bull Dogs, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, English Bull Terriers, Doberman Pinchers, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dalmatians, Chow Chows, American Bulldogs, Mastiffs and much, much more. With each rewrite of the definitions of BSL laws, more breeds are encased.
Denver, CO enacted a Breed Ban in 1989. Citizens of Denver continue to suffer a higher rate of hospitalization from dog bite-related injuries after the ban, then the citizens of breed-neutral Colorado counties. (Source: National Canine Research Center)
The fact of the matter is that it has been shown and proven over and over again that a BSL region does not in fact reduce the population of American Pit Bull Terrier and other "Pit Bull" type dogs or typically dog bites, or the number of dog bite related injuries. A BSL takes dogs out of good homes that care about what happens to them, and puts more into the hands of the people that these laws were designed to reduce the numbers in. In fact in over 78% of cases in a BSL region, "Pit Bull" type dogs population has INCREASED, not decreased.
What Related National Organizations oppose BSL's?
Most actually. Even the National Animal Control Association (NACA) does not support BSL's because of it's difficulty to enforce and the ineffectiveness. Others including the American Bar Association, because of it's costly litigation and difficulty to defend, most of national animal welfare organizations, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and so many others.
So why do they still exist?
How can you get involved?
Fighting BSL's can be fought on may fronts. Signing Petitions, writing level headed, informative, and source based emails to your representatives, attending city counsel meetings with printed and documented research on why BSL's don't work and their impact on tax payers. Attending peaceful, constructive rallies, and learning the facts about what a BSL is, how it works, and who it effects.
We have written many fact based emails with resources attached to them to our representatives in our areas considering BSL's. Between our info and many others that were involved, the BSL's were denied.
What side will you take? If you don't stand up for these breeds, who will stand up for you when your breed is added to the legislature.
So What's The Answer?
In truth, with all the agencies that have been involved in the cases surrounding American Pit Bull Terriers, and other "Pit Bull" Type dogs, The CDC has given the best advice.
Taken in part, The CDC has advised in short......
"The best course of action to prevent injury and lethal dog attacks is to be part of your neighborhood. Know your neighbors, their dogs, and what dogs are best to stay away from."

United Kennel Clubs Description Of A Pit Bull
“The essential characteristics of the American Pit Bull Terrier (here forth referred to as APBT) are strength, confidence, and zest for life. This breed is eager to please and brimming over with enthusiasm. APBTs make excellent family companions and have always been noted for their love of children. Because most APBTs exhibit some level of dog aggression and because of its powerful physique, the APBT requires an owner who will carefully socialize and obedience train the dog…The APBT is not the best choice for a guard dog since they are extremely friendly, even with strangers.
Aggressive behavior towards humans is uncharacteristic of the breed and highly undesirable. This breed does very well in performance events because of its high level of intelligence and its willingness to work."

In short, if so many agencies are so against what is being said about American Pit Bull Terriers and Pit Bull Type dogs, the laws that stand to oppose them, and the stereotypes that so many of these dogs are carrying, why is media still allowed to slander these dogs names, even with more then half a million documented cases of mis-identified breeds? Why is it that people still believe fear mongering stories from these media outlet. How did these dogs go from Nanny Dog to killing machines?
So What Is A Pit Bull?
Loyalty
American Pit Bull Terriers, Pit Bull type dogs and Pit mixes all carry one trait. Loyalty beyond the call of duty. At a higher standard then any other breeds. How can I claim that or state it as fact? What other line of dog's would put their life on the line for their owners, nice or not? Why do you think their ugly past of dog fighting has come about? They would fight to the death for the praise of their owners. The very quality they were bred for as a hunting dog originally has made them fallen to victim of the dog fighting world.
Family
Their drive to love and care for our children is what earned them the title Nanny Dog in the 50's and 60's. These family dogs lock you in as part of their pack and will defend it as far as it takes. This same strong side that we love also has a soft side. As pictured with a baby at 10 hours old at the hospital, to cuddling at night, and in general just being a marshmallow in the home.
Social
Even though many of these dogs can start out with some dog issues, with responsible socialization, these dogs can share homes with other dogs, cats, and small animals. They can be social and even ... share a fountain spout. Both dogs came into our rescue with issues with other dogs. Pictured is a Pit Bull skull. As you can see by the picture, no fancy locking device in the jaw hinge, no unusual design from any other dog's skull. The truth, American Pit Bull Terriers and other Pit Bull type dogs have a strong muscle mass at the jaw such as the German Shepherds, which is why they are used as police dogs. Pit Bulls are only 3rd in the strongest jaw pressure measurements. Rottweilers, German Shepherds, then Pit Bull type Dogs.

In all actuality, the American Pit Bull Terrier and may of it's cousins or Pit Bull Type started long before the defined breed ever came around. Most of the terrier and pit bull type dogs all started from the straight hunting lines of Terriers in England.
More specifically most of your Pit Bull Type dogs originated from the Staffordshre Terrier. This base extends through alot of the American Bull Dogs, American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, etc.
These working dogs have been photographed pulling freight up and down the docks, in the late 1800's, and have even been used for large game hunting. The "Terrier" lines have been used for a lot of tasks before the taunting lines for dog fighithg that everyone seems to have stuck in their head that this was the only use for these dogs.
Yes they were re-defined and bred to improve their fighting abilities in the early 1900's, but still was not nor ever will be their only use.

This statement derives from many situations and really should fall out of conversation.
No dog of any breed should be left unattended with any young children for any extended amount of time. This is not a Pit Bull Statement, a Rottweiler Statement or any specific statement and in all fairness should never be used in the conversation of Canine Etiquette.
These comments come from attacks that have happened from a child being left with a power breed without supervision. This does not make the breed of dog bad, it makes an unsupervised issue where it could have been stopped before it became serious.

Can't Be With Other Dogs Or Not More Then One Pit Bull
"I'm telling you, you can't have more then one Pit Bull in a house together, Ours get in fights and we have to just let them fight it out"
This is a product of not taking the alpha role. With such a power breed, you have to be in control, even over your matriarch dog. Fights are going to happen from time to time in any multi dog household. How you control it and how much control you have over it determines the outcome.
One of my favorite sayings out there is.....
"Every Pit Bull needs a home, but not every home needs a Pit Bull"
These dogs do require their owner to carry a certain demeanor about them. You don't have to be forceful, but your voice has to carry authority. You have to be firm but loving so the dog does respect you.
Pit Bulls and Other Bully Breeds Can't Service Their Community
American Pit Bull Terriers, and other Pit Bull Types are slowly on the rise as a number one choice for Service Dogs, ESA's (Emotional Support Animals), and Therapy Dogs. Their Loyalty to their owners/handlers, and their general love for people make them a great choice!
Against the protest of Service Dog Trainers and Certify Programs, these dogs are on the rise in service. I've been told from training facilities that they wouldn't train Pit Bulls as Service Dogs, why do all you Pit Bull nuts want to claim your dogs as service dogs, I won't certify a Pit Bull because they have a switch that just flicks in their heads, and when it flicks, that's it.
It's actually quite the opposite. Multiple Service and Community Pit Bull Type Dogs are even passed in high regards through the "Canine Good Citizens" program.
